Welcome to the Nationalities Photography Contest! As we all know, Elftown is a worldwide community, with people of every imaginable country and culture represented somehow. This contest aims to celebrate that by giving people a chance to highlight aspects of the nationality they associate themselves with. Think of it as an opportunity to show your pride! ;)

<img6*6:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/11812_1120375140.jpg> Theme: <img6*6:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/11812_1120375140.jpg>

Submit pictures that you feel really capture a unique aspect of your country or culture.

What we want: It doesn't just have to be a national symbol, although that's certainly an option... Something illustrating heritage, an odd quirk particular to where you live; be imaginative!
What we don't want: Pictures of subjects that have little or nothing to do with your nationality. This one is a no-brainer :P

<img6*6:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/11812_1120375140.jpg> Rules: <img6*6:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/11812_1120375140.jpg>

1. Be sure your entries follow the Uploading Art Rules! Your own work only, or face the consequences. Which will not be pleasant. We shouldn't have to say this; you ought to know it by now.
2. Each member may submit up to two entries.
3. No photomanipulations this time. :)
4. Follow the theme, for goodness' sake. No random prettiness, not without reasons! If your entry has some symbolic value and the theme is not immediately obvious, a short explanation of why it fits wouldn't hurt.
5. Nothing violent or pornographic, please, although we'd be worried if you thought that was a good way to represent your country or culture to the world.
6. Have fun! :D

<img6*6:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/11812_1120375140.jpg> Judging: <img6*6:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/11812_1120375140.jpg>

One entry will be selected as Judges' Favourite. A poll will then be set up to determine three other winners (the same entry cannot win more than once.) Four unique badges will be awarded for these, and a general participant's badge will also be made available once the poll is closed.

** Deadline: Ten entries **

2006-07-05 [Fizban]: What do you want me to go to NYC and get a bunch of poeple to hold hands of different racial orientation or something? lol, then take the picture?

2006-07-05 [shotokan_gal]: Why not? :P

2006-07-05 [someelf]: I wanna join XD

2006-07-05 [Fizban]: Cause they are all angry and scary and hate one another...duh! lol.

2006-07-06 [Paz]: The immigration dispute is going on >.> Bloody mess! Perhaps you can get my school to do it? :P

2006-07-12 [moira hawthorne]: get a bunch of dolls of different shape sized and colour and put them in a pot on the stove... usa is the melting pot

2006-07-12 [Charybdis]: xD

2006-07-12 [Stephen]: Many cultures around here don't like one another. >.< (America)

2006-07-13 [Paz]: America is hated by many yet loved by some :D

2006-07-13 [Paul Doyle]: The US government does a great disservice to the US citizens, but not as great as the disservice done by the morons who voted in the current administration in the first place. >_>

2006-07-13 [Paz]: Much agreed ;)

2006-07-13 [Stephen]: Ah, I agree fully! ;)

2006-07-13 [Paul Doyle]: Hell, I didn't vote for him the second time o_O

2006-07-13 [Fizban]: stupid sotherners...I wanna go down there and find out there point of view...do they like him cause he is a racist asshole like them??? ((no offense to any non-racist and non-idiotic southerns who see this. As well as that I am assuming because I put a blanket statement for all southerners loyl...))

2006-07-13 [iippo]: From the (positive) generalisations what I've seen, it's the people in the south in USA who are the nice ones, all polite and stuff.

2006-07-13 [Stephen]: Really? Many are nice, but a lot are also pro-bush.

2006-07-13 [iippo]: I tend not to hate people based on their political opinions. Someone who supports Bush isn't necessarely a bad person. But it's often said that the Southern Americans appreciate politeness, respect the elderly, etc... They have the base-values in check. Well, that's what I've heard as the positive things. There's negative stuf too, but there always is.

2006-07-13 [Stephen]: I'm not saying they are bad. It is true that the Southern People do generally show my respect, in most cases.

2006-07-13 [spincrus]: Suggestion: to make this competition a bit easier to judge, instead of putting a time limit, let's put a maximum amount of entries limit. Otherwise it'll turn out to become a Paranormal Photography Contest :P How is the voting on that going by the way? :)

2006-07-13 [Fizban]: No, they are fabled to have kept on the tradition of good home cooking,...and old traditional values. Which, with here I can envision a kind, caring, and responsible mother...but then they are also very against change...so that gives me the image of the man fat on his wifes cooking, with a shot gun and a confederate flag in the back of his huge pickup truck that he doesnt need cause he really doesnt haul anything and only bought it to impress the other tabacco spitting gun toting buddies of his. See, there we have good stereotypes and horrid ones. Either way, the averse to change brings upon the liking of bush,...despite that I will never understand why some people would support bush

2006-07-13 [Fizban]: when they arent in the correct income tax bracket...even if they are change averse. I just assume they don't understand the full implications of bush's policies on helping those who don't need help, in lieu of the helping hand to those who can barely stand...financial speaking ofcourse. I am about to loose cable tv-internet in my home when oil bills start coming, because the govt sucks when returning my moms money, she would prolly get nothing if she didnt have three children,...and because they are money mongering fools who love to jack up the oil prices whenever they think they can get it over the heads of the americans to do so.
